International's mistake was not licensing their system. Once the 3pt (The 
Ferguson system) got out to other manufacturers the writing was on the wall.

Steaming pile of poo compared to International's 2-point fast hitch.
You could hook up to implements without ever leaving the seat.
And, it offered power roll and azimuth adjustments, as well as
lift and pushdown.  (Lift only, if you pulled the appropriate pin.)
Three hydraulic levers, to the Ford system's one.

Ford's system was basically inferior, but adequate.  And, it won
in the end.
