Are they too smart to steal a resonator or SCR if they can't find a converter? Just wait until they find out what a DPF costs...(but they'd have to get under the hood).
One time, a newbie posted on Cruzetalk about paying an exhaust shop to cut the converter out of his 2014-2015 diesel to increase performance. But it didn't increase power at all. People told him he didn't have a converter. So he posted a picture of the SCR (cat pee reactor) that had been cut out. Somebody said "Reduced power in xx miles message to appear in 3, 2, 1..." and the idjit with the missing SCR never posted in that forum again. He must have felt like an idiot when his car declared a slowdown and strike.
Who wouldn't want a car that shuts itself down when it detects an emissions control failure, like when the nearest town is 80 miles behind you or 100 miles in front of you, and you're in a desert?
