If you are doing it yourself and do not have a plasma cutter, consider getting one. I am no expert, but I watched a TV show years ago where 2 fellows replaced a rocker panel on a pickup truck. They used the plasma cutter to remove the old one and it was pretty slick. They basically drew a white line where they wanted to cut and then did so and got a pretty smooth cut line. They avoided all of the drilling of spot welds and prying of rusty pieces of metal off of the truck.

I want to get one but I need to upgrade the power in my garage in order to be able to use things like that.

You need procedure 63-300 from Volume 2 of the 123 Service Manual, which
has lots of great pictures of where all the welds are and where to cut etc. I'd highly recommend you try to get a paper copy of both Vol1 and Vol2 of
the "Service Manual Chassis and Body Series 123".

Karl, are you contemplating this surgery, or paying a pro to do it for you? I'd imagine a pro could work from a fuzzy .pdf on the CD, as he already knows what it's talking about.
