When I was a kid, I always liked to tinker with stuff, take stuff apart. Maybe
5th grade age or so I took apart the lawn mower. Dad wasn't really happy but
told me to put it back together. Which I did, and it didn't run. Went to the
library, got a book on Tecumseh engines, learned what timing marks on gears
were about, and got it back together correctly. And it ran fine for years after
that.
