The Maginot line was easily breached when the Germans developed a cannon
that would knock through the fortified bunkers with several shots.  A
classic case of preparing for the last war as technology progressed.  Very
ineffective in addition to the end-run problems.
BUT, if you get the moat dug would you take the snakes instead?  There are
now hundreds of lengthy pythons out there.  Sun-Sentinel [Ft. Lauderdale]
had a pic recently of a snake that swallowed most of a 6' gator - which
clawed most of the way out before it died. Either of them would do the job
for the moat, and I'd rather have the gators - easier to reason with. On
second thought take 'em both ...

We have a lot of coral snakes and mocassins out in the woods here near Crystal River. That tough Arizona sherriff will probably take anything that bites or stings. There's also crocodiles up the coast near Cedar Key. Gerry
