There must be some sort of sealant that you could spray on tires to protect them from UV if you are not able to park indoors.

When I was at the vast northern estate last week I noticed a bunch of pickup
trucks parked with covers over the tires. I expect these are plow trucks that
are rarely used in the summer time and the covers protect the tires from the
UVs.

I'm REALLY pleased we get to park both the tractors inside now. Tractor tires
are expensive. A couple years ago we got a new tire and rim on the Super M.
Including the fluid fill and call out charge it was right on $1200...

Same with Florida *if* the vehicle is stored outside. In this case, Bob just
got this back from Dad, who was in Peoria, IL, if I recall correctly.

As an Arizona resident, I have a 5 year hard line on life of tires. The UV
exposure in AZ cooks the sidewall rubber to the point of failure. I have
had 4 tires simply explode from sidewall failure while parked. All were
past the 5 year life limit. Had the vehicles been loaded, at highway speed,
the outcome would not have been good.. or, likely survivable.
It's your safety, so you decide.

I would agree with Greg. Since Dad was in IL most of the time, I suspect
the sidewalls are in good shape. I would inspect them closely for cracking,
and if they look good, don’t worry about it at this point.

I would say that climate conditions are a critical factor. Heat and UV are
the primary enemies. I would think a truck stored outdoors in AZ would age
tires much faster than here in the PNW.

I would certainly inspect closely for signs of heat/sunlight damage.

My â?~05 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 SLT 5.9 Cummins  has 60K mile Michelins on it
that were made third week of 2016. Between my dad I there have been 40k
miles put on them. They are wearing well.
When do I need to get nervous about the straight up age of the tires?
Citing that data should I be concerned taking off for a roadtrip to
Colorado on those tires?
