It's worth just getting the new CP/connector kit and replacing it, cheap
enough. New filter, fluid, etc. and if that doesn't cure the problem
the box might be toast but there are cheap units everywhere if you want
to replace it

If he really did replace it I can’t imagine he would pay $350 for one from a
dealer plus I would not think it would be that old. It would seem more likely
if he did replace it, it would be a $60 Amazon unit like I use which work just
fine. All of the solenoids tested good. Got a new plate on the way, will see
what happens.
