Although salt never is an issue here, I had some of those same thoughts when I drove the TDI Beetle some this summer; Thinking how nice dependable AC was...diggin' the 46mpg back and forth to the old nuke plant...not being the last guy to leave a traffic light.

It would have been easy to justify driving the TDI given my daily commute and even though it was a neat little diesel, it just doesn't have the character the 300D does. It isn't as fun to drive as the 300D is. And, I doubt it is as safe as the 300D is.

Now that the TDI is in the history books, my decision on what to drive is easy.
