The early ('84) 190Ds used a mount similar to the solid mounts used for
123s.

Yeah, that's what they look like.

They don't fail gradually. It's a binary function. When the height drops
below 1/2" the isolation has become unsatisfactory. If you use a mount
from a different engine/transmission combination, the isolation will NOT
be satisfactory whether the mount is good or bad. Quite unlike solid
mounts used in older designs.

That's too bad.  I still may try it, I doubt it could be worse than
it is right now.  And if it's better, cool.
