I buy spray cans of something called corrosion barrier film. It is oilier than WD 40 which tends to disappear after it dries. I spray the stuff into the doors in the fall. If I put too much it drips a bit but goes away eventually and it does not smell foul like many oil treatments. I have tried all sorts of oil in the past, both new and used. I think this stuff does as well as any of the other things I have tried. Will find the can and pass along more details if anyone is interested.

But WD-40 is specifically designed to displace and repel water. (Water Displacement formula attempt #40.) -- Jim
