Have to adjust valves again has it been 20K allready since I did it? Bought a dial gauage and want to test the stretch and timing while I am in there.
You don't need any tools to do this, unless you suspect that something involving the nominal positions of the harmonic balancer and/or cam chain sprocket is damaged or mis- adjusted. Otherwise, you just line up the mark on the cam tower and read stretch directly off of the timing scale on the balancer.
