Well after surfing around on my 114/115 MB Service Manual CD I discovered to my chagrin that the vacuum pump on my 74 240D requires maintenance by addition of oil. I cant tell from the diagram in the procedure, but it looks like you have to unbolt and remove the pump from the engine in order to access the oil fill plug. Has anyone had any experience doing this? When did MB switch to automatic oiling of the pump from the engine? I have never read any mention of this needing done for my 85 300D.
The vacuum pump of a 115 doesn't require oiling, but the injection pump does!
