Synthetic - change it at regular intervals and drive it at high speeds (60-70 or more) for long distances. Our 91 had carbon build up - I also put some stuff called Ferox 230 from www.ferox230sales.com - bought 4 bottles of concentrate specfically designed to break loose carbon. Each bottle treated 6 tanks od diesel IIRC. Worked like a charm. No more carbon. ;-)
As far as sludge, the synthetic oil (I like Mobil 1) will clean it out over the course of 2 or 3 oil changes. But high speed drives will help an engine tremendously. Also, if the engine suffers from sludge buildup the AT probably does also - again, Mobil 1 ATF is the answer - change it every 30K miles along with the filter - Good luck - Larry T (67 MGB, 74 911, 78 240D, 91 300D) www.youroil.net for Oil Analysis and Weber Parts Test Results http://members.rennlist.com/oil PORSCHE POSTERS! youroil.net Weber Carb Info http://members.rennlist.com/webercarbs . ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hendrik & Fay" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Mercedes Discussion List" <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Sent: Sunday, November 25, 2007 9:11 PM Subject: [MBZ] What is the current thinking on internal engine cleaners? >I got an Izuzu with a lot of sludge build up in the motor.
