SATA is a different interface but they support 100% of the ATA command set. And because they use a different interface, you will not be able to plug one into a ATA drive cable.
But you can buy a SATA card & cable if you are looking for a data drive. Look for a drive that supports the SATA 2 (SATA/300) standard with a 16 MB cache for best performance. Presently I'm using a 350 GB SATA as a external data storage drive for my laptop -- works great although it puts out a lot of heat. Any comments?
