You can count on Dell to use non-standard motherboards, power
supplies, and cases. I have stopped using then for rackmount systems
too. They are good for a cheap desktop in an office.
One customer bought a couple rackmount Dells that are supposed to take
8 hard drives. The drive caddies were not included and Dell wanted
over $100 each just for the caddies - unless you bought them from Dell
with a hard dive and paid over $150 for a 250Gig drive. The street
price is ~ $50 for that drive. Dell is a bit behind the curve.

Kmart had a deal with Lindows a while back for low-end systems. I
think they call it Linspire or something else now.
