But there are people who should not own guns, just like there are people who should not be driving or using sharp things. Same old story, 99% of firearm owners do the right but the 1% get all the publicity and give the rest a bad name. It's like my definition of a good driver, a good driver is not someone who can drive quickly but one who gets to his/her destination safely, same with weapon owners, you get cowboys who shoot good but don't follow gun safety. The reason we just about have come to a standstill with speed restrictions is not for the good drivers who know when to slow down but the idiots who can't recognize that they are going too fast until it's too late and a kid lies dead in the road.
