I just have to jump in here with my philosophy.

I am all for guns. Have owned some in the past (ex got them all by default
-- they were stored in her mother's house in Maine). Shooting is fun,
especially pistols. Had one of those too (Colt .22). I own none now but not
because I think they are evil but because I feel no need for one and there
are no firing ranges around. (I don't like shooting off into the cornfield
randomly.)

However, I am uncomfortable with having folks walk around with one tucked
into the belt on the way to work. Are you really that insecure and scared?

There is a very young Deputy Sheriff who walks around Jefferson with his
Glock on his belt -- off duty. Even though I know he is a Deputy, looks sort
of strange hanging a Glock over his Levis, covered ever so slightly by his
t-shirt. Also wears a leather thing holding his handcuffs. ... He's just a
little (in stature) jerk trying to look like someone important. Probably has
some "self esteem" issues at the crotch level. He is the only law
enforcement guy in town who "packs" off-duty. All I can think when I see him
is Barney Fife. Sure hope they don't give him bullets!

If the place in which you live is so dangerous that you must pack heat to
commute to work, I have a suggestion for you -- MOVE. No matter what your
skill in life, you can find similar work in a crime-free environment. This
is a really big country.

I'll bet BuyMGParts could be run from Jefferson -- you could buy a
storefront for less than $100K and rent the apartments on the second floor
to cover your mortgage. But then you'd have to buy a very nice house in
which to live for $100K -- if you want a house with a three car garage in a
nice neighborhood. I had to pay $75K w/ a four car garage, but that was
seven years ago. In fact, someone could run the whole thing out of his
house. Economic Development money might even pay for the house.
