Thanks Miguel.

I guess this functionality is in part a legacy of the old days when sand layers
were usable in previous versions METRo.

I have to admit though that all the roads we work with typically have no sand
layers and usually use gravels of various types for the road bed capped with
concrete and/or asphalt.

Allowing for sand layers should increase the applicability of METRo to a
broader range of scenarios; albeit rare ones.

Bryn

Hi Bryn,

After looking more carefully at the METRo code source, it seems that
everything for the sand layer is already in the physical model. I tried
to add a sand layer in the configuration file and I adjusted the code
not to have an error message and... it worked!

I will update the documentation and, starting from METRo 3.2.2, you will
be able to use a "sand" layer.

Best regards,

Miguel
