Hi,

If I understand correctly, the time zone information in the
station files for METRo is used to generate the sunrise/sunset
times for the idealized hourly solar flux at the site. If so, then

1) Is this needed only when cloud cover is used in the weather
forecast (ie; is time zone ignored when solar radiation is
supplied in the weather forecasts directly)?

2) Couldn't you also calculate the sunrise/sunset using latitude
longitude information which is also provided in the station
file? (Actually, wouldn't this be more accurate since lat/lon
is more precise and time zones cover broad areas?)

We are concerned that it might be complicated locating METRo in
some areas due to time zone peculiarities (even in the US!).

Thanks in advance for your comments.
