True, but look how things have changed.  Schools are underfunded so physical
fitness (PhysEd) is seldom in the curriculum.  A sad part of higher
technoloafy are the video and computer games that hold people in their seats
for hours. People are WATCHING sports on big screen TVs instead of
participating in sports.  Everyone drives everywhere, even down the street
to an event or location easily within walking distance.

The media presents happy people getting stoned or drunk in movies and on
TV...  

 

Personally, I've been taking vitamins, protein shakes, pumping Iron for
several decades; don't drink alcohol (bad for the body - much worse than
many believe), don't use tobacco, don't do things known to lead to
disease...   I'd rather spend my money to staying well, too!  It certainly
beats becoming sick and having to deal with health care as a response to
infirmary.  BUT... prevention cost money, as well, and many people who are
NOT ignorant of prevention, haven't the money to pay for it.
