I've used both 4 and 2 post lifts. I picked up a 15k Rotary two post last year
for my new garage because the 2 post was more convenient for working on the
car- and that was my primary use. I contacted a highly recommended local
installer/rep to discuss. He recommended a refurb'd unit (which was a repo). He
located the unit, inventoried it and placed missing parts, picked up and
delivered it and installed it for $2500. That included a 1 year warranty and
service plan. The unit was near new- still had the oe paint on it where the
arms ride. It has been great so far - I never imagined just how much time it
would actually save me. As mentioned ceiling height and floor construction are
important issues. Like Tony I went far beyond the spec on the floor. If the
floor isn't up to spec, the are specs for insetting a pad, which is just
cutting out a rectangle (or two squares) and keying in new concrete to spec.
Installer said he does this all the time for commercial installs. -Rob
