Hello Simon!  This is a known issue that we have documented in our Ubuntu
install guide (I see you are using Suse, but this issue applies to all Linux
distros)

http://www.mifos.org/developers/wiki/MifosUbuntuInstall#set-up-database

Essentially, you need to add the following line to your my.cnf
[mysqld]
lower_case_table_names=1


That should remove the need to manually rename some tables.
