Have you tried a letter to your MD explaining the situation and asking for special instructions to your CFO and explaining what OpenBSD does for him and that other companies are doing similar to get an even higher return on investment and make your employees investment of time more effective etc.. Better to keep it above board than have questions asked if the company starts looking for ways to cut costs. p.s. writing the letter in your own time and making that clear may be more effective.
