I have a basic sine-wave that I'm using.  44.1 / 48 / 96K all sound ok
most of the time, but there is a definite artifact when switching
direction or changing speed very rapidly -- ie, what people do when they
are actively scratching.  I've reached the end of what I'm capable of
doing myself.  This hack has consumed my life a little too much in the
past couple days, so I'm putting it on a shelf and calling it quits.  It
does sound way better than the original scaler, I think, but someone
else is going to need to take a look at it to figure out why it's
popping when it does.
