If even switching to Linux is an option for your friend, couldn't he upgrade to
OSX Leopard (version 10.5) and use the official build instead?
Unless he runs an really old machine (G4 processor below 867 MHZ), Leopard
supports both PowerPC- and Intel x86-based machines.
With the release of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (version 10.6) in 2009 Apple began to
phase out support for Mac OS X Tiger (version 10.4), including the release of
security updates.
Nobody cares if Mixxx runs under Win2k or Ubuntu 7.04 so why care for Mac OS
10.4?
IIRC we got near zero feedback from 10.4 users once we asked around the release
of Mixxx 1.9/1.10.
OSX 10.4 has below 10% market share in average of all OSX installations, RJ
might have some some specific numbers for mixxx.org from web tracking .
Not worth the effort imho.
As hint if someone wants to try it, last time we build for 10.4 the version was
not stable or produced static:
