    While the mentioned activity is quite tempting at times, I would recommend 
against it. Being that the officer is  there for
public safety, the courts generally over look fault on their part.  I think if 
you brake checked a cop, and he did end up rear
ending you, at the very least he would not be found at fault, and in the worst 
case scenario, you would be held responsible.
Remember, the courts will generally take the officer's word over yours, being 
that they are a "trained professional".
    I finally got back to my computer after a couple of days. All of this talk 
about the vigilante-rear-ending being excusable.
WTF?  *sue this asshole*  Taking the law into his own hands created a 
potentially more dangerous situation than if he had let the
misdeed pass.  If the offender was flying through stop signs and the like, what 
does the vigilante have to do in order to keep
up?  He's the one at fault.
