I've had a simlilar problem for about a year now, but what happens to mine
is that only the mfa dims, a buzzing noise coming from the dash and twhen I
fully turn the ignition everything dies, when I try it again the cars starts
normal like nothing had happend (it does this only like 4 or 5 times a
month). I have no clue whats wrong with it but I think in my case it has to
do either with the ignition drum or the dash itself since I replace the
engine harness with a rebuilt one (by me of course ;). I hope you have
better luckand its only the battery terminal, LMK

And the other ends of those wires that connect to the battery,
especially the ground strap where it connects to the frame/tranny
housing.
