I have been and anticipate doing quite a bit of freeway traveling from
Rochester, NY to Toronto (not so much worried about the OPP), Northern VA by
way of NY, PA and Maryland, and Northeast OH. So, my thought is a more
feature rich unit would probably be a good idea seeing as I will be in a
host of different environments.

I agree with the below: You might not need "the best." Find out what
kind of radar they run locally and decide if it's worth the extra
cost to get features you don't need locally but might when you
travel. I have a Cobra POS (that's not really the model name). It has
bailed me out on countless occasions and it was gift.
