Background stumbling (a.k.a. 'Mozilla Location Service' data setting) will be off by default, and will always default to off (I can't predict the future, but the 'off' side seems pretty strong in their argument -that no one downloads a web browser to be a location stumbler). > >> Do we add another checkbox for: Use cellular data for sharing > > Unless it's default, you might not get much uptake via the DRN, and it > probably shouldn't be default. Would default to off, which is correct for markets with high wifi coverage, and a poor choice for markets with little wifi coverage (India for example). Furthermore we have a problem that in places we most need the data, this option will be defaulted to off, and there will be a lack of user comprehension of the option. > I'd be inclined to *not* use the data reporting notification to try to drive > uptake, and instead appeal some time after first run (or maybe after the > first web site asks for your location?). That is a very good idea. Solves the problem mentioned below, and provides a better user experience (imaginary user-think: "I looked up a location, I see the value of this info, and Firefox is asking me to help contribute location info, I will associate this question with providing better info on pages like this."). > We should be careful about asking too much of new users -- hey, send us > telemetry, and health report, and crash reports, and here's where you set up > sync, and try home panel add-ons, and hey, please also tell us everywhere you > go. Fully agree. All those other options will just have to go :). _______________________________________________ mobile-firefox-dev mailing list [email protected] https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/mobile-firefox-dev
