Shaders are little programs that run on the GPU.
The GPU has full RAM access.
Thus, shaders have full access to your machine.
Now, there may be some safeguards to prevent this. But I assume they
have more holes than swiss cheese, because JS has strong safeguards and
one security hole per month, and device drivers have less review, are
less often updated, and hardware even less so.
Thus, I assume that any GL program has root access. I think that's a
safe assumption.
