this is definetly perl.  it is your standard perl interpreter that is being used.
unless you are doing something tricky, it is the same perl that is running all of
your other perl programs.  these "gotchas" are there in regular perl and people
get bitten by them outside of mod_perl.  mod_perl does nothing that changes
regular perl.

by the way - you have one of the coolest signatures i've seen!
