Hi Richard,

I reckon the floors are wood because it's cheap and easy to cut them to
size. When Kevin replaced my chassis he fitted new floorboards cut from
phenolic resin sheet - light, easy to work, and rot proof.

The tank is mounted on wood to stop it splitting through vibration, but I
don't have a clue why the fuel pump is mounted on a bit of thin plate.

I would always recommend that you do what you think is best, and hang
everyone else's opinions. If you are confident that what you are doing is a
genuine improvement, then it won't detract from the resale value of the
car, after all, who would be mad enough to want to buy a 20 year-old Mog in
original condition? ;-)
