I agree Tim.
Well put (and I think Honest John of the Telegraph would wholeheartedly endorse your comments too). TC David. To: mogtalk2 Subject: Re: [mogtalk2] MidMog CT now ground clearance I reckon that for road use and 'real world' driving the fad for wide low-profile tyres is counter-productive in many ways. My Mog knocks out in the region of 170bhp, not far off a +8, and manages just fine on 165 section T-rated tyres. And it's not like I drive like a complete Granny, as my recent invitation from West Mercia Police to attend a Driver Awareness course will attest. To get yourself in a situation in a +8 where a 195 tyre would let go but a 205 would hang on, wet or dry, I reckon you'd be driving out of your skin on public roads. Higher profile tyres give better ride comfort, better puncture resistance, better wear characteristics, and more predictable and controllable breakaway handling. In extremis, i.e. on a race track, the ultimate grip of a wider tyre is going to be of value. In the real world where most of us live, no.
