We have been considering downsizing as well and the prospect is daunting. One
thought might be to dig a large hole in the garden area and throw anything not
used in the past year in to it.  Once buried it will be gone but with the
possibility of resurrection.

For anyone wondering what all this talk of "Old magazines" is all about, I
have a box full in the loft of great examples from circa 1990 when I started
my first +4 rebuild. If nothing else, they are an extraordinary mirror of a
time not so long ago yet so far from today

Perfect size for keeping by the loo and you'll never again want for reading
matter

Seems moving house is on the cards shortly and my generous loft space will
be a casualty of down-sizing, so available ex Biggar or for cost of putting
onto a van

The thing with all owners club magazines is that they are only filled by
contributions from the membership, so if lots of folks submit travelogs,
thats what ends up in the mag.

If you don't like what you are reading do something about it and submit the
kind of article you might like to read. You never know it might encourage
some others.

Having been involved with an owners club mag in the past I can testify that
it is a nightmare, copy arrives sporadically and randomly, its in the wrong
format, can be littered with typos or of poor quality, all these things need
to be corrected before they can be used. So if there is a well written
article that fills a few pages and appears to represent what the club
members like to do, it will be printed.

As Richard said the club is about more than the magazine.

That said, to answer the original question, ie: where has all the technical
stuff gone? internet forums have pretty much filled this role

club (MSCC) cannot reflect all of them. I renewed my membership this year
with a note stating that it had been a marginal decision with the content of
Miscellany a major negative factor. I received a reply (positive factor)
requesting that I submit a technical article myself. This was, perhaps,  a
reasonable response although I am aware of others with impressive CVs in the
field of automobile engineering who have submitted technical articles
without any acknowledgement, much less publication. I am inclined to think
that the "Sports" in MSCC should be replaced by "Social". I doubt that I
will renew again.
