Larry, The author of "Riddle of the Sands" tells a wonderful story of sailing his engineless boat from England to Germany; gets towed through the Kiel Canal and then sailas around Danish islands. On his way home he finds some interesting "doings" along the northern Dutch coast. This becomes "the riddle of the sands"
The author later was running guns for the Irish Republican Army, got caught by the British and was executed. I read recently that his vessel was for sale in Ireland.
