The tie wraps are a clever idea that I have read about in a number of places. I had used the foam pipe successfully in a previous boat and was going with what I knew worked. At any rate, I will have to work on it when I take the mast down the next time. It may require taking the chicken-head fitting off the top; so it may be some time from now.
