I recently purchased a 1977 M-17 and Shoreline trailer in September from a fellow in Virginia. Pennsylvania (my home state) will not give me a registration because the VIN plate is missing. Hence, I can't prove that the trailer is the same as the one for which the VIN number is shown on the title. Virginia DMV won't talk to me because I am not a resident of Virginia. The previous owner won't talk to me because he has his money. Does anyone know if the VIN number is perhaps stamped somewhere on the frame so that an inspection mechanic can verify that the VIN number on the title and the VIN number on the trailer match. Thanks for any information or suggestions.
