Hi Tom, I've got the round ones - can't say I gave the shape much thought, just went with what Bob suggested. I enjoy their look, and they are the aspect of the boat most commented on by passers-by. I don't bother much to keep them polished, except when I can bribe my 8 year-old son to do the work.
Inside the cabin, though, the knobs that hold the things closed do some damage, as my skull must be some kind of bronze magnet. If I were to do it all over, I'd probably pass on the opening ports in favor of saving a few brain cells!
