Matt, Aesthetics in this case trump brain cells; I would rather wear a hard hat in the cabin than give up the bronze. Just know you have the best looking 17' sailboat made since the old wooden hull days. As for maintaining bronze, I haven't touched the ports on my Nor'Sea 27 in 30 years, and the green looks great.
