You are right John.
After being absent on Fleabay for some time I thought about giving it a try
again, but noticed that I get "High Shipping" warnings from eBay even if I
charge only $10.
That's less than 5 Euros! I can not even sent a package within the Netherlands
under 6.50 Euros.
To safely ship a lobby card set or large folded poster outside Europe I have to
pay our postal service 22 Euros. That's $32.53!!!!
I now charge $12 on eBay and therefore lose $20 on each order.
I also got my auctions stopped because I accept cash. It will get even worse if
you are forced to accept Paypal only.
Although I never had problems with Paypal and they still are the cheapest way
of getting cash straight into my bank account at the lowest fees, I noticed
through the years that a lot of customers don't like Paypal and that my sales
went up when I also started to accept credit cards via a merchant account.
Can someone give me good alternatives for Fleabay that I can use next to our
website?
Thanks,
Ron Zwarts

  PS

I have told my account manager that I think it is absolutely ridiculous that
buyers are allowed to rate sellers on postage charges. All of my packages go
out with a Postage Paid Australia stamp and no indication of the actual cost
and in many cases I routinely lose money on postage because I am trying to
protect my DSR rating.

Essentially, I think the current policies are forcing sellers who sell
internationally to lose money on postage.

  John

John is right. This was publicly announced today. They say that they will
give all sellers a two month "grace period" to get all four DSRs over 4.3, and
then they are gone. I agree with Phil that this would be the height of
insanity, but after all the other weird changes, I do believe they mean.

I am SO glad to have flown over the fleabay cuckoo's next!

I doubt very much they will do that.

What they will do, I think, is threaten that, and the option will be if
you have less than 4.3 then you will have to pay higher listing or FVFs to list.

They know too many people make their livelyhood out of the decreasingly
useful site.

Anyone who watches their "star ratings" knows that it's a system that
doesn't work, it's a system that a lot of buyers don't understand and/or abuse
and it's also a system that can be easily manipulated by the mighty Fleabay for
their own advantage - such as charging sellers higher fees if their star
ratings drop below 4.3.

And did your "eBay rep" say that he thought it was something he thought
would upset a lot of sellers, or are they your words? Did you explain to him
how as a seller you thought this was as ridiculous as it sounds?

I just had a call from my eBay rep who wanted to let me know about all
of the changes. One thing he did say that would likely upset a lot of people is
that any seller who has a DSR star rating in any category that is below 4.3
will "lose their selling privaleges" - ie they won't be able to sell on eBay.

Some very big sellers have low star ratings and will be affected by
this.

        John

Hi, Scott, et al, from Joe Bonelli in NOLA--- also a native of
Mississippi.

The truth be told, it's true that quite a number of
Mississippians can't spell-- even the abbreviation ("MS") of our state.
BUT----- it is ALSO true that most Yankees don't know anything
about geography east or south of the Johnson/Nixon (or is that "Mason/Dixon?")
line.
Hence, the mis-locating of our "E-Bay-less Bro from old West
Plains, MO"

So---- ANYONE in the "nawth" could be responsible for placing
the Missouri Tornado (oops!! Sorry, Bruce!) in the middle of Elvis Country.

                Hi, Bruce! Welcome to Tupelo!

AP story out today about eBay. Our prolific-poster-seller Bruce H is quoted
11 paragraphs from the bottom. Here's the link:

The article says he's in West Plains, Miss. Doesn't that abbreviation
indicate Mississippi?
