This raises an interesting point. Do films that were shot in 70mm (and its variants) and projected via a single projector on the Cinerama screens qualify as real Cinerama (despite the famed concertina logo on posters and what this adds to value of say 2001 posters)?
Isn't real Cinerama the three camera/three projector set up as described here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinerama Recently, in Australia, so-called IMAX screens have opened in several multiplexes, but it's a trade name only, and doesn't reflect the true nature of a purpose built IMAX theatre, nor does it come close to really relicating the IMAX experience of 100% IMAX shot films. Anybody spot any errors in this Wiki article? Bruce just sold a linen backed one sheet for only $99 for IAMMMMW. The posters for 2001: a space odyssey seem to sell for a lot more - even the non Cinerama roadshow ones. --- On Tue, 4/7/09, Phil Edwards <[email protected]> wrote: From: Phil Edwards <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [MOPO] slides worth more than movie poster - It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World To: [email protected] Date: Tuesday, April 7, 2009, 6:22 PM No real surprise. Not are these not just studio issue 35mm publicitytransparencies that were issued for colour magazine use at the time, butextremely scarce behind the scenes shots with their own film-connectedprovenance for what is arguably the most popular Cinerama film of all time, andthe ONE Cinerama film that has developed an enormous cult following over theyears.Phil----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]>To: <[email protected]>Sent: Wednesday, April 08, 2009 7:53 AMSubject: Re: [MOPO] slides worth more than movie poster - It's a Mad, Mad,Mad, Mad World> I have been watching those auctions carefully. I am a big IAMMMMW fan andwas definitely shocked at the ending prices each time. There is something to besaid about that kind of item. They are totally unique.
