Ms Fawcett appeared in 12 feature films, starring and/or co-starring in a
few of these.
She also worked steadily in TV series, again starring or co-starring in
several.
I'm wondering why she was left out of the Memorium segment as well.
As for 10 Best Pictures, and only 5 nominations in the Best Director
caregory, I am reminded of DRIVING MISS DAISY, which, at teh time, was
referred to by several people as the Best Picture That Directed Itself.
I thought this year's Oscars was a pretty tawdry affair. Thoroughly
undernourished. Tom Hanks desultory announcement that this year's winner was
a groundbreaker was a cheap attempt to make both Lee Daniels and Katherine
Bigelow just sweat a little more.

A rep for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that Fawcett's
ommission was "not an oversight."
There was apparently some additional criticism that they also left out Bea
Arthur who starred in the movie Lovers and Other Strangers but obviously
best known as a TV actress.
I guess they have to draw the line somewhere but I can understand how some
people would be upset at the ommissions.
