And there you have it - the world's greatest poster expert stating proof positive that Finnish posters are the cat's meow, rare as hen's teeth and that owning one is akin to hitting the lottery.
Sorry you weren't able to get a Finnish Gilda for your auction Bruce, I too can only imagine the dizzying heights such a rarity would bring (if one is even known to exist - at a minimum it is ten times rarer than any US poster on the title.) But like the song says - You can't always get what you want... And if anyone has a Finnish Godzilla poster for the first movie (or even second or third), I am a ready, willing, and able buyer. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bruce Hershenson To: Sean Linkenback Cc: MoPo-L@listserv.american.edu Sent: Friday, July 30, 2010 10:02 PM Subject: Re: [MOPO] FA: 200+ Finnish Posters Starting Sunday I am willing to stipulate in a deposition that today, Finnish posters are quite likely the most rare movie posters there are, and that anyone who obtains even one is one of the luckiest people on the face of the Earth.. Bruce P.S. For those very few of you who ARE seeking a Gilda B-style one-sheet, it just so happens we will have a really nice example beginning on Sunday. I was really hoping to get a FINNISH Gilda poster consigned, but I had to settle for the U.S. poster! These posters are very rare in the marketplace - when we offered up a choice selection last year, I was very impressed with the collector response, so this time we have an even larger selection covering the 50s through the early 80s. While there are probably aren't any multi-thousand dollar titles here, there are a lot of titles that very rarely hit the marketplace, so I feel very fortunate to be able to offer this many at one time (in fact I don't think Bruce has sold 200 Finnish posters total in all his years in the business). We have put up a preview of over 100 of these babies at our website - www.platinumposters.com so please take a look and then bookmark our auctions for Sunday evening.
