Hey Glenn and all,
What Toochis is talking about is a nail that has a somewhat threaded post
instead of a smooth post like a regular nail. It makes it harder for the screw
to come out of the drywall since the thread of it catches the drywall when
it is tapped in. I have had some customer that use those 3M strips and, if you
do that, I suggest 2 of them that hold the most weight you can have. That
wouldn't be my suggestion, but I've had customers that swear by them. Many
people are hanging their frames in their office where they aren't allow to put
a nail in the wall. The frames aren't heavy, even my Deluxe is about 4
pounds tops with a movie
poster in it, but those strips can dry out over time and slip off the wall.
Now, for fixing the holes, you can get some DAP or joint compound which is a
putty that contractors use for seams. What I do to make it less obvious is use
a Q-tip to apply it just to the hole. Make sure you get some down into the
hold. You can make a bit of a mess because once you have some pressed into the
hole, you can wipe the excess off with a damp paper towel around the hold to
make it
flush with the rest of the wall....then try putting your nail in a spot close
but not on top of it... just some thoughts on how I've done it.....it can be
challenging because that old plaster on "vintage" walls is pretty but not very
accommodating
for hanging pictures.

Subject: [MOPO] A question for Sue and any others who'd like to chime in

Hello All -

So here's the deal... My landlord is going to kill me when he sees the two
holes I put in the wall to hang a beautiful frame Sue Heim made for me. I like
to swap out posters and rehang the frame.

I wanted to enjoy a poster I recently won from Bruce's auction. (Getting all my
plugs in!) It fit the frame perfectly. I was so happy. But my happiness was
short-lived. Unfortunately this last time I rehung the frame it was too much
for the wall. The two holes got a little bigger and the nails wouldn't hold. I
absolutely can't bang more holes in this 1950's era wall. (Or use screws!)

What do you do to hang posters that will prevent damage to the sheet rock? I'd
like to continue to swap out posters so I can enjoy my collection.

Thanks in advance!

Glenn
