Not quite - I would not say that DQ *allows* . . . .
Rather, I would say that DQ *IS* the breaking of old patterns and the making
of new ones.

I have a reservation about using the word "directed". It makes it look like
cause and effect - something we know we have to be careful about.
To say that something took a particular direction is not to say that it was
directed. Just try spinning a bottle to see what I mean.
