by killing the perceived "threat to society", it is like removing pollution
downstream.. you can keep "cleaning out the pollution" but unless you go
upstream to the source of the pollution it will keep perpetuating.
especially if the source of the pollution is a growing reflex/static pattern
gaining more energy.

how to become aware of the static patterns that produce the problems
upstream?? the way it has been traditionally done is through analysis,
studies, etc. however, this can now be revealed to be performed via a
subject-object approach. in other words, the assumption is that the
researcher is a "passive observer" rather than a participant. dialogue --
true dialogue which is a resurfacing art -- can make this patterns obvious
as they emerge in a natural, participatory manner. i think this approach is
directly in tune with the MoQ and might offer one of the stochastic
directions.

(perhaps a later discussion point: the MoQ seems to imply a new sort of
analysis, as the "cleavage point" of the "intellectual scalpel" is entirely
different.)

|
| the thing about the social level removing a component of the biological
| level
| is that the biological component is no longer a threat to society once he
is
|
| arrested. when the human body destroys a virus (organic vs inorganic),
that
|
| virus was harmful to the body up until the point when it was destroyed.
| also, pirsig says human beings are 'collections of thought,' which makes
| them
| connected to intellectual quality in that respect. so the death penalty
is
| society removing a harmless biological component along with traces of
| intellectual quality inside of it.
