You place a short, provocative text or visual (generally enlarged) in the middle of poster paper (or a sheet of big tablet paper). Each member of the conversation team had a different colored pen/marker/pencil. They are generally given some sort of thinking prompt and asked to notate the text. When one member of the group has a question or comment on another's post, he or she draws a stem and poses their question or makes their comment. It is a variation on written conversation that results in a web, rather than a linear text. Generally members are soon chomping at the bit and when oral conversation follows, it tends to be richer.
