My child is in kindergarten and just turned four and it was a really hard
adjustment for her. The first two months it was really hard. All of a sudden
though she loves it. She is doing really well in every area except fine motor.
I was held back for the same fine motor stuff. It was a disaster for me when I
was in 5th grade to be a year older than everyone else. I didn't want her to go
through what I did. I still am not sure I made the right choice. She is with
gigantic 6 year olds. Most private schools require you be a year older and
developmentally it makes sense unless you are the oldest. We will have to wait
and see.

My district did the same thing, but this is only the first (I think...maybe
2nd)
year since, so no real info yet.

ubject: [MOSAIC] Kindergarten entrance age
Our district is pondering changing the kindergarten entrance age. Currently we
ave an increasing amount of four year olds. Looking for any research, ideas
hat speak to whether changing the kindergarten entrance age impacts learning
ate, retention or special education referrals going forward.
hanks for any advice/ideas!
