I am curious. Why are you suggesting sticking to all non-fiction?

June,
I would stick to all non fiction if possible. I would also level the
texts based on students RIT ranges. A few good sites to start from
are Resources for Idaho teachers. House of Snakes is a real attention
getter and there is lots of info on the web about this real house!
Ugh! Depaul also has a site but the address is at school but maybe
you could Google it. Also Kelly Gallager has an awesome site but
preview all texts first for your audience for appropriateness. Look
at Article of the Week. Hope this helps and all is well!

Next semester, I will be doing a reading enrichment block with
students who
are fair to good readers but they need a little extra boost with
comprehension to become much better readers. I will have from 5 - 10
students per
block - one block each of sixth and seventh grade.
I am thinking that I would like to use short stories, short
non-fiction
passages and possibly short novels to hone their comprehension.
I have no budget to work with so I am looking to put together my
materials
and I really appreciate any and all ideas fro this particular

a otros."
