Hi Cathy, The DRA2 has questions that ask for literal comprehension, reflection, and interpretation of text. It also requires the student to summarize the text and to be metacognitive of their reading and provide examples. It takes a while to administer and some teachers utilize it and other don't.

I'd like to know how it differs from the QRI and other IRIs that specify the types of questions they ask. Does the DRA2 specify question types? We use the Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System, which differs between "in" the text (can look back and find), "beyond" (inferences, predictions), and "about" the text (author's craft) comprehension questions. It's been a number of years since I used the DRA(1) but I don't remember question differentiation there.
